TU Dublin was established in 2019 and was the first Technological University in Ireland. IT was created by the amalgamation of three Institutes of Technology Dublin, Blanchardstown and Tallaght. As a first of its kind in Ireland, a strategic report for its long term vision was developed through a consultation process involving 2500+ people who contributed views and ideas that helped to frame the content of the plan. TU Dublin wanted to celebrate with an event launch in the lighthouse Cinema for university staff and partners, opened then by then Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure, Paschal Donohoe TD.
Challenge
To design and deliver the TU Dublin Strategic Intent ensuring seamless continuity of the TU Dublin brand across three mediums. The timeline was very tight and there was a limited internal budget. Commissioning a videographer for original footage wasn't possible, so I had to rely on stock clips, previous TU Dublin stock imagery and shooting my own clips. A collaboration with my colleagues in communications, the conservatoire sound engineer and a TU Dublin student allowed us to create the voice over for the video.
Assets
I created, delivered and produced high-quality design work across different platforms
a printed report in English and Irish
a short film communicating the key points of the strategic intent
Responsibilities
Storyboard and visualise a narrative for the context of the Strategic Plan
Source appropriate stock video clips and curate for storytelling
Produce, Edit and author sound and video files to compile final video
Liaise with suppliers to maintain delivery timeline schedule, ensure supplied content was correct and address any issues that arose
Impact
A cinema audience of nearly three hundred people, including TU Dublin students and members of staff, as well as industry and community partners attended. The event was also streamed live on tudublin.ie to enable those who couldn’t be there in person to participate.
